Promoting Gender Equality Through Women Entrepreneurship Development And Formalization In Nigeria

Women's Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON) with support from International Labour Organization  convened a 1-day high level policy roundtable dialogue in Lagos to discuss the gaps  in 3 identified policies, namely The National Gender Action Plan, The National Financial Inclusion Strategy  and the Women Economic Empowerment Policy.
These 3 policies support women's enterprise development and formalization in Nigeria 

2023 Children's Day Celebration By WOCON - Empowerment Self Defence (ESD) for Children

To mark this year's CHILDREN'S DAY,  WOCON took its awareness raising against child abuse and violence against girls to St. David's Anglican Church,  Lafiaji, Lagos State, where Primary 6 pupils were taken through Empowerment Self Defence (ESD)
 
ESD is all about how to respond to unpleasant and life-threatening attacks.
It is one of WOCON's unique way of violence reduction among women and girls

Awareness Raising Programme: "Risks of Human Trafficking & Irregular Migration to Europe"

WOCON collaborated with Nigeria Women Association Verona Italy and Denny Welfare Hub Lagos, to raise awareness on human trafficking and irregular migration by intercepting groups of parents of adolescents as a safeguarding action to prevent them from becoming victims of human Trafficking and Irregular migration.
 
The groups included male and female community elders, women groups including market women and  young women who are parents in 'Lafiaji' area of Lagos State.

Women Advocates, Research & Documentation Centre (WARDC) invited different COALITIONS including NACTAL LAGOS CHAPTER to a Workshop on "The Use of Appropriate Social Accountability Mechanisms for Advocacy on Ending Violence Against Women & Girls held on 6th February 2023

Today 18th Oct.2021, Women Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON) was at St. David Anglican Primary school Okesuna Lagos. To sensitise the pupils of primary 4 to 6 on the reason girls need to learn digital skills to transform their lives, for personal development, for learning, to stay informed and safe and earning a living.
