Hundreds of Nigerian women and girls are trafficked each year into forcible prostitution. They are made to endure slave-like conditions in foreign countries , notably Italy, and the Middle East. WOCON is stepping up its efforts to expose and erradicate this abusive and illegal practice.

 

16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM

In commemoration of 16 days activism held annually,WOCON Team took our VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS to”ITAFAJI”,a densely-populated community on Lagos Island on Friday 28th November 2025, where we engaged residents on the dangers of Gender-based violence (GBV), Share relief materials with young women and girls and also sensitized them on how to identify, prevent and speak out against all forms of abuse.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ZERO TOLERANCE FOR FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION(FGM)

To commemorate the *INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ZERO TOLERANCE FOR FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION (FGM)* on 6th February 2025, WOCON launched its Campaign against FGM targeting young women in Itafaji Health Clinic in Itafaji area of Lagos State.
We aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of FGM, discuss its devastating consequences on women and girls and empower them to resist cultural pressure to undergo the practice.

2023 Children's Day Celebration By WOCON - Empowerment Self Defence (ESD) for Children

To mark this year's CHILDREN'S DAY,  WOCON took its awareness raising against child abuse and violence against girls to St. David's Anglican Church,  Lafiaji, Lagos State, where Primary 6 pupils were taken through Empowerment Self Defence (ESD)
 
ESD is all about how to respond to unpleasant and life-threatening attacks.
It is one of WOCON's unique way of violence reduction among women and girls

Use of Appropriate Social Accountability Mechanisms for Advocacy on Ending Violence Against Women & Girls

Women Advocates, Research & Documentation Centre (WARDC) invited different COALITIONS including NACTAL LAGOS CHAPTER to a Workshop on "The Use of Appropriate Social Accountability Mechanisms for Advocacy on Ending Violence Against Women & Girls held on 6th February 2023
