Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

In commemoration of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, the Women’s Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON) stands in solidarity with girls and women across the world to advocate for the complete eradication of FGM.

Female Genital Mutilation is a harmful and unjust practice that violates the rights, health, and dignity of girls and women. Every girl deserves the right to live free from violence and to make informed decisions about her body.

As part of our advocacy efforts, WOCON visited two schools where we engaged students in meaningful conversations about their rights, the dangers and long-term effects of FGM, and the importance of speaking up against such practices. We also shared guidance on how and where to seek help.
Through education and awareness, we continue to amplify voices, challenge harmful norms, and work towards a future where every girl is safe, empowered, and protected.
Say NO to FGM. Protect the girl child. End it now.
